We welcome applications from people from all sections of the community, irrespective of race, ethnicity, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, religion or belief. We actively encourage people with Parkinson's to apply.

Every hour, two people are diagnosed with Parkinson’s. In fact, it’s the fastest growing neurological condition in the world. So we urgently need new treatments, more support for people living with the condition and more funds to find a cure. In the last 50 years, we’ve invested more than £100 million in cutting-edge research to uncover the causes of Parkinson’s. We believe we’re close to finding a solution. But not close enough. That’s why we need more people like you..

At the frontline of everything we do, you will provide expert nursing advice, support and information to patients via our helpline whilst overseeing other helpline nurses. In short, you will be the catalyst that empowers people with Parkinson’s to make their lives more fulfilling and satisfying, helping them to take an active role in their own treatment. To this end, you will ensure that the helpline is staffed at all times, that the advice delivered is accurate and based on the latest available evidence, and that your colleagues comply with the NMC code of conduct as well our own policies.

Our service users deserve the best, so we’re seeking an exceptional professional. Alongside first level NMC registration and expert knowledge of Parkinson’s, you should be experienced in supporting Parkinson’s patients from diagnosis to end of life. Ideally you will hold a formal qualification in either neurology or Parkinson’s, and you will certainly be skilled in providing telephone support, managing teams within a clinical setting and utilising case management systems. Above all, you will be a superb active listener, with the empathy and tenacity to cope with challenging and distressed callers and find the right way forward for everyone.

In return, we offer all the convenience of home working plus an exceptional package of benefits including flexible hours, 25 days’ annual leave (pro rata), a pension scheme with generous employer contribution and an employee assistance programme, plus extensive investment in your professional development.

We are looking for someone who can work a minimum of 21 hours per week but we can offer up to a maximum of 35 hours per week; you will also need to be able cover some hours on bank holidays, Saturdays (10am-2pm) and over the Christmas period.

If you can deliver life-changing advice, please apply by sending us your CV, together with a detailed supporting statement which will fully demonstrate how you meet all the criteria of the role, as stated in the "What you'll bring" section of the job description.

We are operating rolling recruitment for this vacancy and reviewing applications as they are received. We reserve the right to close this vacancy when we receive sufficient applications for the role. Therefore, if you are interested, please submit your application as early as possible.

Interviews will be held on either Wednesday 03 November 2021 or Friday 05 November 2021.

Please note that the successful candidate will be required to:

•    provide their own broadband service with a minimum download speed of 2Mb

•    have a confidential space in which to work
